Planning Commission had released the Urban Rural Health Indicators in India during Eleventh Plan (2007 – 2012) in the Data Portal India. This chart provides a quick overview of Crude Birth Rate (CBR), Crude Death Rate (CDR), IMR and prevalence of anaemia among children and pregnant women (in %).
It can be seen that the prevalence of anaemia is very high at 79% in children (6-35 months). The entire generation children are likely to be physically disadvantaged if proper interventions are not done at school level.
